Getting Active in 2020
Getting fit and healthy in the New Year can be tough! Going to the gym at the crack of dawn or heading out in the dark for a run is not many people's idea of fun.
No one said exercise has to be boring. Try something different this year, get active whilst doing something you enjoy! To give you some ideas, here are five of our outdoor activities that can help you get a little fitter whilst having fun.
1 - Walking with a Twist – Cryptic Chase
This outdoor activity not only gets your feet moving but gets your brain in gear too. Cryptic Chase is a fun, puzzle solving outdoor activity that will have you exploring our grounds looking for cryptic clues, riddles and teasers at each location of our chase. By the end of Cryptic Chase you will have walked around 1.5 miles, but trust us, the distance won’t even cross your mind as you’ll be having too much fun!
Cryptic Chase is perfect for all ages and abilities and is a great activity that the whole family can take part in.

2 - Reach New Heights – High Ropes
If you’re looking to reach new heights, our high ropes course is the perfect outdoor activity that will not only challenge your physical strength, but your mental strength too.
Our high rope challenges, based up in the trees of our woodland activity centres, will put your upper and lower body strength to the test. You will use muscle you didn’t even know you had! Once you’re up in the trees it’s all about concentration and balance so get ready to work out those core muscles as you navigate your way through the course.
High ropes is a great alternative to the gym but having said all this, we have a variety of low and high ropes courses for all abilities so don’t worry, you don’t have to be in peak physical fitness to take part.

3 - An Outdoor Activity that Rocks! – Rock Climbing
Rock climbing is a brilliant outdoor activity that will really get those muscles pumping, giving you a cardio and strength building workout in one.
With our qualified instructors leading the way, you can enjoy a selection of bouldering (low level scrambling) and rock climbing activities at heights on the fantastic routes of your choice. During our rock climbing sessions, you will strengthen muscles, build stamina and increase your heart rate.
Whether you’re completely new to the sport or you’re already an experienced rock climber looking to up their skill level, our instructors will tailor each session to your abilities.

4 - Work Up a Sweat with Friends – Body Zorbing
One of our most popular outdoor activities is Body Zorbing, a fun group game that will get you working up a sweat as you run around the pitch like David Beckham.
All players will be suited and booted in a giant inflatable zorb with only their legs free for movement; all players are on a level playing field.
Just to warn you, your core muscles will be aching after your Body Zorbing session from uncontrollable laughter!

5 - Get Active Out on the Water - Canoying and kayaking
If you want to get active without bursting into sweat within the first five minutes, canoeing and kayaking is the perfect outdoor activity for you. Both are low impact activities that will help to strengthen your back, shoulders, arms and chest from moving the paddle.
Not only is this a super fun outdoor activity for all ages and abilities, but a relaxing one too! What can be more relaxing than floating across a Ripley Castles picturesque lake?
